rankings???

Everything you ever wanted to know about Mixed Martial Arts in Minnesota...

rankings???

Postby mikereilly » Sat Nov 20, 2010 10:42 am

Who is on the ranking board. I know I refused because I was honest and admitted I would be bias - but it seems that bias must be the one requirement to be involved in the rankings.
I'm changing my mind - I want to be one of the voters and so do some of my fighters, and their moms and possibly their girl friends, dogs, and their favorite trees...

Also, I'd love to know which one of your guys you feel is being so slighted that you're this worked up.

I vote. And I tried to spread the other votes out among the different camps, media outlets, judges, inspectors, etc.

As you said, you were asked to be on the voting panel. So please don't complain. You had a chance to have your voice heard but you turned it down.

This month, half of the voters did not turn in their votes. So, that's a problem.

The rankings can't really be taken seriously, but Gabe Greenberg (#9 -145) knocked out Chris Barrera (#6 - 145) not that long ago, and stylistically, I think Mitch Jackson is a horrible match up for Chris. (or anyone without extensive wrestling experience/defense)

do you seriously allow judges and inspectors to vote? No you did not just say that... please tell me no judges are voting on rankings... Please for the love of God there is one thing this commission does right and that it does not allow officials to vote on fighter rankings!!! Please let that be the case. Oh who am I fooling - the whole fish basket already stinks so bad they would be playing bets if they could find anyone stupid enough to take their action

You can't always use head to head match ups to determine rankings. In the case you cited, Barrera moved up because he defeated a ranked fighters (who quickly dropped out of the top ten) while Greenberg has been inactive since defeating Barrera. MMA seems to be pretty "what have you done for me lately?" so people drop for inactivity if they aren't well established in voters minds and other fighters are staying active and impressing.
