I received a text message Tuesday afternoon that read “what is your weight at?” and I immediately knew the direction this was headed because I have been down this road before.

I replied by saying, "I'm at about 170 pounds, who’s the guy?" Then I got the message that read "you don't want to know," and that’s when I was flooded with emotion.

This was a chance to avenge a previous loss, but more importantly, this was a chance to fight for a title. Before I could jump at the opportunity and accept the offer, I needed to make sure I thought about a few things first, and I knew there would be some hurdles I needed to leap in order to make it happen.

I have been out of the gym for the most part of 3-4 weeks because I’ve been nursing a couple minor injuries that occurred in my fight in July. With those minor injuries still lingering and my cardio probably not where it should be for a five-round title fight, the cards were already stacked against me.

I still didn’t want to just give up and decline it; that wasn’t enough for me to say no just yet. I needed to look
